Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad

Elbe, Washington (Elbe - Mineral)

(Photos taken in August 2016)

A 14-mile, 1 1/2-hour round trip over a secluded right-of-way on the south slope of Mt. Rainier in the State of Washington.

Elbe is on Highway 7, about 75 miles south of Seattle, and 13 miles from the south entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park.

Hammond Lumber Co. No.17 - 1929 Alco 2-8-2T.

Preparing to leave for Mineral Lake.

Leaving Elbe Depot.

The train goes through farms, forests, and tree farms, over rivers and creeks, up hills and down.

A 1 1/2-hour excursion gives a wonderful steam train experience!
