"Peace Message Lantern Floating |
At 8:15 am on August 6, 1945, the world's first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. The atomic bomb killed many
people in an instant, but many were severely burned even if they escaped immediate death. Many of them died as
they entered the nearby river because they couldn't stand the heat and pain. Around 1947, when the city of Yami
was crowded around the stations such as Hiroshima, Yokogawa, and Koi, and barracks-built shops finally started
to be built in the center, the bereaved families and citizens who lost their relatives and acquaintances due to
the atomic bomb made a memorial service. Therefore, it is said that the beginning of "Toro nagashi" was the flow
of handmade lanterns into the river. It is common to write the name of the deceased person (legal name or common
name) and the name of the person who shed it (owner's name) on the lantern, but recently, people from Japan and
abroad have come to "Peace". The sight of writing "thoughts" is also an eye
I came to stand. "Toro nagashi", which has a long history, has come to have both meanings of "consolation"
and "peace message".
