Basho (1644-1694), Japanese poet, visited Chuusonji, Golden hall in 1689 and composed a haiku. This shining hall where Great Samurai's coffins were placed, deeply impressed him as it was preserved as a commemoration against ruining with wind and rain for 500 years.

exhibited in 30th Japanese Suibokuin exhibition (June 24-July 5th, 2015, the National Art Center, Tokyo)

"The Narrow Road to Oku ? "Oku no Hosomichi" was written based on a journey taken by Matsuo Basho (1944-1694), Japnaese poet, in the late spring of 1689. This poetic diary is in the form known as haibun, a combination of prose and haiku.
Nouveau Japonisme Paris I displayed a panel of this Sumi-ink painting (Suibokuga) in the art exposition "Nouveau Japonisme Paris" held in the Mona Lisa gallery of Paris. I was surprised that a lot of Japanese ukiyoe prints were displayed in the home of French painter Monet. French people have been much interested in Japanese paintings for long time. They are also interested in Sumi-ink painting, and I was at a loss that many mademoiselles asked me many questions. (A beautiful interpreter helped me!)
