トリエント・ミサ請願書、その後

I thank you for your letter of October 7, 2010, and hope that you are enjoying the changing of season as we enter in the beautiful time of autumn.

I was a little surprised by the fact that you have sent a letter to the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei in Rome, despite you had the possibility of asking for advice here in Japan to the Archbishop of Tokyo, or this Apostolic Nunciature.

I was also informed by the Rev. Fr. Domenico Vitali, the parish priest of St. Ignatius Church, that in response to your request for the celebration of a Tridentine Mass, he has not made such a statement as “The Archbishop does not permit it". Rather, I believe that you have requested the Tridentine Mass to be celebrated on an every day basis, and that it is difficult to be granted, which I consider understandable.

I invite you and pray that you might discover the riches hidden in our actual liturgy that will certainly lead you to the deepening of our faith.

2010年10月7日付けのお手紙を有難うございます。秋の美しい時期に入ろうとしているこの季節の移り変わりを、あなたが楽しんでおられることを希望します。

私は、この日本においてあなたが東京大司教や教皇庁大使館にアドバイスを求めることも可能であるところをローマの教皇庁立エクレジア・デイ委員会に手紙を送ったという事実に、少し驚きました。

また、私はイグナチオ教会主任司祭のドメニコ・ヴィタリ神父様から、聖イグナチオ教会でのトリエント・ミサ挙行というあなたからの要望に対して、彼は「大司教様がそれを許可しない」といった発言はしていないという情報も受けました。しかしそれよりも、私はあなたが毎日のトリエント・ミサの挙行を望んでいるということは信じますし、また、それが許諾されるには困難があるということが理解できること（無理からぬこと？）であるとも考えます。

私は、私達の現在のミサに隠された豊かさをあなたが見出しますようにと、あなたを招き、そして祈ります。それは、あなたを私達の深い信仰に確かに導いてくれるでしょう。

I thank you very much for your warm letter of 20th, October 2010. Now I am enjoying the beautiful Japanese autumn.

As for the statement of “The Archbishop does not permit it.", the reason of misunderstanding was clarified after a conversation with Rev. Fr. Domenico Vitali. His “it” pointed the Tridentine Mass that I attend every morning now. But I thought “it” meant the Tridentine Mass offered in St. Ignatius Church. So, Fr. Vitali did not say “The Archbishop does not permit the Tridentine Mass in St. Ignatius Church.", but he said “The Archbishop does not permit the Tridentine Mass you attend now."

Certainly, the Tridentine Mass which I attend, offered by Fr. Akito Nariai in his apartment is not permitted by the Archbishop. Fr. Nariai has been practically kicked out of his Kagoshima Diocese ten years ago and now lives in Tokyo. He has been told by Bishop Kenjiro Koriyama to celebrate Mass alone responding to Archbishop Takeo Okada's complaint. Fr. Nariai often says “Don't come here.” to faithfuls, but they disregard his request.

Rather, according to Pope's will, we respectfully request the Tridentine Mass in St. Ignatius Church, as shown in attached article 'Pope wants traditional Masses in every parish, says Vatican cardinal'.

Now we are on good terms with Novus Ordo people and, of course, will be in the future.

2010年10月20日付けの心温まるお手紙をどうも有難うございます。私は美しい日本の秋を楽しんでおります。

「大司教様がそれを許可しない」という発言につきましては、ドメニコ・ヴィタリ神父様との会話の後、誤解の理由が判明しました。彼の言った「それ」とは、私が現在毎朝与っているトリエント・ミサを指したものだったのでした。しかし私は、聖イグナチオ教会で捧げられるトリエント・ミサを意味するものだと思っていたのです。従って、ヴィタリ神父様は「大司教様は聖イグナチオ教会でのトリエント・ミサを許可していない」とは仰ってはおらず、「大司教様はあなたが今与っているトリエント・ミサを許可していない」と仰った、ということになります。

確かに、私が成相明人神父様のアパートで与っているトリエント・ミサは大司教様の許可を得てはおりません。成相神父様は鹿児島教区を１０年前に実質的に追われ、現在東京に住んでおられます。彼は「ミサを一人で捧げるように」と郡山健次郎司教様から言われておりますが、それは岡田武夫大司教様からの苦情に応じてでした。成相神父様は信徒達に「ここに来ないように」と何度も仰いますが、誰も聞きません。

しかしそれよりも、私達は教皇様のご意向に従って、聖イグナチオ教会でのトリエント・ミサを慎んでお願い申し上げます。添付記事「ヴァチカンの枢機卿、『教皇様は全ての小教区にトリエント・ミサを望んでおられる』と語る」にございますように。

私達はノブスオルドの人々と現在とても仲が良いですし、もちろん今後もそうでありましょう。
